Repair or replace?

Would replacing it make more sense?

One error code is not enough to say you should replace the appliance. Get a repair price first, then compare it with the cost of a suitable replacement.

Replacement may make more sense when

• the appliance is older and has had repeated failures;
• the repair quote is a large share of a suitable replacement;
• the fault involves an expensive major assembly and the rest of the appliance is already worn;
• parts availability or repairability is poor for the exact model.

Repair may still be the better choice when

• the appliance is relatively young;
• the fault is isolated and repairable;
• a repair quote is comfortably below replacement cost;
• the appliance otherwise performs well.
